Music

Music is one of two specialist areas in the school. My name is Alison Kitching and I love giving students the opportunity to experience success in learning to play an instrument, and aim to give them as many hands on activities while learning music theory as possible.

All students at our school learn Music as a Specialist area for one hour a week.  During sessions students learn about Music concepts in the areas of Beat and Rhythm, Melody, Harmony, Expression, Tone Color and Style and Form.  The students have the opportunity to investigate music through a range of activities that improve their skills in playing, reading, writing and creating music.

For those students who wish to learn a specific instrument and develop their musical playing skills further, the school also offers them the opportunity to learn the keyboard, flute, violin, saxophone and clarinet through private music teachers who teach individual and small group lessons during school hours.
